Anime Dice How Unit Grades Work
Gems from codes buy multipliers. Spend them on one keeper, not on a row of Commons.
Grade is the quiet multiplier. It does not show up in the official three-line tutorial (roll, upgrade dice, collect mutations), which is why new plots skip it. Gems — the third code currency — exist almost entirely to push Grade on a selected unit. This page is the spend policy. Gem sources sit on code rewards. Who may receive them sits on best units.
If you remember one sentence: Grade multiplies the unit you already decided to keep. It does not rescue a Common. It does not create a mutation. It does not redeem UPDATE2.
What Grade changes
Each Grade step raises that unit’s cash output. It stacks with rarity, trait, mutation, and pad. A mid-rarity unit with a finished Grade often beats a neglected rare. That is not a bug. That is why this page exists.
Grade is per unit, not per plot. Levelling a unit with cash is a different slider. Cash levels are cheap and disposable. Grade is scarce. Do not treat them as synonyms.
Where Gems come from
Live public codes as of 3 September 2026 typically grant:
- UPDATE2 — 3 Gems (some roundups claimed 7; believe your popup)
- UPDATE1 — 3 Gems
- RELEASE — 2 Gems
Discord exclusives may add more. Shop may sell more for Robux. The free stack is small. The codes checklist stops you from forgetting RELEASE on an alt that desperately needs Grade.
Spend order
- Identify the main with the best units tie-breaker.
- Open that unit, not the pretty Common beside it.
- Buy Grade steps until the next step costs more Gems than you want to strand on this run.
- Stop if a rebirth is imminent and you are not sure Grade survives prestige. Check the rebirth HUD after your first reset so you know for this client.
- Never sprinkle one Grade on five units. Multipliers like concentration.
If the main’s trait is F, you may Trait Reroll before Grade so you are not multiplying a dead passive. If the trait is B or better, Grade first — Gems are harder to replace than a single reroll. Categories: traits tier list.
When Grade loses to other spends
Grade loses when:
- Pads are empty. Place units. Money guide.
- You have no keeper. Lucky Spin first (lucky spins).
- The next dice luck node is cheap and you still roll pure Commons (dice upgrades).
- Rebirth will wipe a Grade you cannot afford to rebuild this session.
Grade wins when a keeper is already on a pad and you are staring at unspent Gems “for later.” Later is how Gems die in the currency tab unused.
Grade and mutations
Mutated units want Grade even more than base rares, because every multiplier layer on a rare variant is doing work. Do not save Gems for a hypothetical better mutation if a real mutation is already sitting down. Hypothetical units do not print overnight.
Update caution
Update 2 can retune Grade costs. If a step suddenly costs a fortune, stop and read Update 2. Do not smash Gems into a curve that a patch is about to discount.
Grade is not glamorous. Leaderboard plots still have it. If your rare “feels weak,” check Grade before you check scripts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Do Gems upgrade the die in Anime Dice?
No. Gems buy unit Grade. Dice nodes buy luck with cash. See dice upgrades.
Should I Grade Commons?
No. Commons get replaced. Grade the keeper chosen on best units.
Is Grade the same as unit level?
No. Levels cost cash and are disposable. Grade costs Gems and should concentrate on one unit.
Will rebirth reset Grade?
Verify on your client after the first prestige. Plan as if cash resets and scarce currencies might stay — rebirth.
