Anime Dice Best Units to Keep
A tie-breaker for Gems and Trait Rerolls when the roster still has no frozen names.
“Best unit” in Anime Dice is a local question: who on this plot deserves the next Gem? It is not a global celebrity list. Faces shuffle. Fields do not. This page is the tie-breaker you use after a Lucky Spin burst when two shiny bodies want the same currency stack. Rank layers first with the unit tier list. Then come here to pick a main.
If you only own Commons, you do not have a best unit yet. You have coverage. Place them, buy luck, spin again. Getting started is the page for that moment.
The tie-breaker
Score each candidate in this order and stop at the first difference:
- Mutation. Mutated wins. Always. A mutated mid can beat a base rare. Protect it (traits and mutations).
- Rarity tag. Higher band wins. Ignore whether the Common looks like the 1-in-9,342,584 banner.
- Cash-facing trait. S-tier traits on the traits tier list beat luck traits on a plot that already has a main. Luck traits can win if you still have no rares at all.
- Grade already purchased. Sunk Gems matter. Do not abandon a half-finished Grade for an equal unit.
- Pad multiplier. If one tile ticks harder, the unit already sitting there has a hidden fifth score.
If they are still tied, keep both on pads and Grade the one you can stand looking at. Motivation is a multiplier only humans have.
Archetypes that look best (and how they fool you)
Official screenshots push two families:
- Pale armored hollow-style — reads as secret S-tier. It is S-tier only with the fields above.
- White-haired cyan caster — reads as the “meta mage.” There is no mage meta. Check rarity.
Gag chibi units go the other way: they look skippable and sometimes carry a rare tag. Read the tag.
What the best unit receives
- Remaining Gems until Grade feels finished (grades).
- Remaining Trait Rerolls only if the current trait is C or F.
- The strongest pad.
- Protection from “I will just sell it to tidy.”
What it does not receive: every cash dump in the Shop. Leftover cash still prefers dice upgrades until rebirth is due.
When to swap mains
Swap when a candidate beats the current main on points 1–3 and you can afford to rebuild Grade. If you cannot afford to rebuild, the old main stays until the next code. UPDATE2 is not a weekly salary; treat swaps as expensive.
After rebirth, you may need a new main from scratch. That is expected. The Index still remembers the old face even if the pad does not.
Team building without teams
You do not build a composition. You build a pyramid: one main, a couple of B-tier rentals with okay traits, then Commons in the holes. Leaderboards rank the pyramid’s cash, not your Index completion. If you want the book done, farm it in parallel — index and collection — without stealing Gems from the main.
After Update 2
New units entered the pool with the numbered patch. They start unproven. Give them one session of cash watching before they steal the main slot. Patch context: Update 2. If Discord hype names a unit, still run the tie-breaker. Hype is not a field.
When the developers finally publish a static list, this page will name names. Until then, the best unit is the one whose fields survive a week of rolls. Play that unit. Grade that unit. Let the rest of the plot be furniture.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
I rolled two rares. Who do I Grade?
The mutated one, else the one with the cash trait, else the one you already spent Gems on. Do not split Gems evenly.
Is the banner hollow-style unit always best?
Only if its rarity and mutation agree. A Common lookalike is still a Common. See rarity value.
Should I swap mains after every Lucky Spin?
No. Rebuild cost is real. Swap only when the new unit wins the tie-breaker by a clear layer.
Do I need a full team of uniques?
No. You need full pads. Uniques are an Index bonus, not an income requirement.
